Creative Coding Barcelona with Marc Vilanova
The Generative Art Museum presented a new edition of Creative Coding Barcelona in collaboration with BAU University, featuring Marc Vilanova, who led a session exploring creative approaches to giving materiality to light and sound.
Moving between installation, performance, sculpture, and scenography, the talk showcased technical, material, and formal solutions for generating immersive experiences in which audiences could listen with all the senses.
Marc Vilanova, a sound and visual artist based in Barcelona, shared insights into his artistic practice, which takes the form of expanded sculptures that create a dialogue between sound, light, and movement. Through technological and material experimentation, his work engages with acoustic ecology, posthumanism, and the thresholds of perception. His intimate, sensory environments invited deep listening as a form of environmental awareness, encouraging attunement with the more-than-human world.
Vilanova’s work has been presented in major art centers and leading festivals around the world, including Onassis Stegi (Greece), Science Gallery (Australia), FILE (Brazil), BIENALSUR (Argentina), L’Auditori de Barcelona, the Riyadh Contemporary Art Museum (Saudi Arabia), Ars Electronica (Austria), and the Mattress Factory (USA).
